As I explained in part 1 of this topic, many people struggle with colloquial Spanish because it is not taught in depth at school and students are not exposed to it. Therfore, I have compiled some of the most frequently used expressions and the circumstances in which they are used. Enjoy!
A. Expresar que se está dispuesto a hacer un favor
No, si no es ninguna molesta
Para eso están los amigos (That’s what friends are for)
Para eso estamos
¡No faltaría más! (Por supuesto)
B. Rechazar una oferta
No se moleste (Don’t bother)
C. Quitar importancia
¡Hombre, no es para tanto!
D. Contradecir a alguien
Perdona que te lleve la contraria, pero...
E. Saludar
¡Dichosos los ojos! (You are surprised to see them, you haven’t seen them in a long time..)
¡Hombre! ¿Tu por aquí? (You bump into someone in the street and you wouldn’t have expected to see them at that particular place..)
Buenas
¡Qué casualidad! (Unexpected encounter)
